## Question

Suppose you are the chief consultant of an internet connectivity project at your college and the work is going on, write the first monthly progress report in a memo format.

## Short answer

First month: site survey and network design approved, equipment procurement done, 300 Mbps ISP line agreed. 700 m conduit laid between Block A and B (20% cabling), server room prepared. Switch delivery delayed. Progress 22% against 25% plan. Next: backbone cabling and switch installation.

## Answer

```text
                        MEMORANDUM
To      : Campus Chief, Himalaya Engineering College,
Lalitpur
From    : Er. Priyanka Shrestha, Chief Consultant, Campus
Internet Project
Date    : 3 March 2027
Subject : First monthly progress report on the Campus
Internet Connectivity Project (February 2027)
```

#### Introduction

The project will provide high-speed internet and Wi-Fi in all the blocks, labs and hostels of the college within four months, starting on 1 February 2027. This is the report for the first month.

#### Work completed

1. **Survey:** a site survey of the 6 buildings was completed, and the network design (fibre backbone, switches and 45 access points) was approved.
2. **Procurement:** the bid for the equipment was published, and a supplier was selected for the fibre, switches and access points.
3. **ISP contract:** a 300 Mbps dedicated fibre line was agreed with Nepal Telecom; the connection will be provided within 3 weeks.
4. **Cabling:** 700 m of conduit and fibre was laid between Block A and Block B (20 percent).
5. **Server room:** the room was prepared with a rack and an air-conditioner.

#### Problems faced

- The delivery of the switches has been delayed by two weeks because of customs.
- Classes make it difficult to work in the labs during the day, so the work is done in the evenings.

#### Work planned for the next period

1. Complete the backbone cabling between all blocks.
2. Install and configure the switches and 20 access points.
3. Set up the firewall and user authentication.
4. Start testing in Block A.

#### Conclusion

The progress is 22 percent against the plan of 25 percent. The delay will be made up if the equipment arrives on time. The project is expected to be completed as scheduled at the end of May.
