From : Er. Anita Basnet, Project Engineer
Date    : 10 March 2027
Subject : Second monthly progress report on the
Construction of Micro-hydro Power Plant (Period: 1 to 28
February 2027)
```
#### Introduction
The 50 kW micro-hydro power plant at Sundarigaun, Dolakha, is being constructed to supply electricity to 220 households. The work began on 1 January 2027 and is to be completed in 10 months. This memo reports the progress made in February, the second month.
#### Work completed
1. **Headworks:** the intake structure and the 40 m settling basin were finished.
2. **Canal:** 650 m of the 1,200 m headrace canal was excavated and lined (54 percent complete).
3. **Powerhouse:** the foundation and the walls up to plinth level were completed.
4. **Procurement:** the order for the turbine and generator was placed with a supplier in Kathmandu; delivery is expected by June.
5. **Community:** the users' committee provided 480 person-days of voluntary labour.
| Activity | Planned | Actual |
|---|---|---|
| Intake and settling basin | 100% | 100% |
| Headrace canal | 60% | 54% |
| Powerhouse | 30% | 25% |
| Overall progress | 28% | 24% |
#### Problems faced
- Snowfall and cold weather delayed the canal work for 5 days.
- The supplier of penstock pipes has asked for 10 more days.
- A land dispute over one canal section remains unsolved.
#### Work planned for the next period
1. Complete the remaining 550 m of canal by 31 March.
2. Lay the first 100 m of the penstock pipe.
3. Complete the powerhouse walls.
4. Settle the land dispute with the help of the ward chair.
#### Conclusion
The project is 24 percent complete against a plan of 28 percent. The delay can be recovered in March if the weather is good and more workers are hired. The expenditure to date is Rs. 41 lakhs against the budget of Rs. 1.85 crore.
