#### Background

Techno Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is a medium-sized technical company with 60 employees working in software development and network services. It currently has only ten old computers, shared among teams, and a slow network. Projects are delayed, and employees cannot test their work on modern systems. The company has also decided to train new graduates in-house. A sophisticated computer lab will remove these problems, raise the quality of work and help the company to win larger contracts.

#### Technical section

The lab will serve 40 users for software development, testing and training.

1. **Hardware.** Forty workstations (Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 24-inch monitor) and two rack servers for file sharing, version control and test environments.
2. **Network.** Gigabit LAN using Cat-6 cable and 24-port managed switches, a firewall, and a 200 Mbps fibre internet connection with a backup line. Wi-Fi access points will cover the lab.
3. **Power and cooling.** A 10 kVA online UPS and an inverter for at least 2 hours of backup, with two air-conditioners to protect the equipment.
4. **Software.** Licensed operating system, office tools, IDEs, database software and antivirus. Open source tools will be used wherever suitable.
5. **Security.** Role-based user accounts, daily backups, CCTV and biometric entry.
6. **Implementation.** (a) Site survey and design - 2 weeks; (b) purchase - 4 weeks; (c) cabling and installation - 3 weeks; (d) testing and staff training - 2 weeks. The lab will be ready in about 11 weeks.

#### Cost estimate

| S.N. | Item | Amount (Rs.) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Server (rack type) with 3-year warranty, 2 units | 7,00,000 |
| 2 | Workstations (i7, 16 GB RAM, SSD), 40 units | 36,00,000 |
| 3 | Network switches, cabling and Wi-Fi access points | 6,50,000 |
| 4 | UPS, 10 kVA, and inverter | 4,50,000 |
| 5 | Projector, whiteboard and furniture | 5,00,000 |
| 6 | Licensed software (OS, office, development tools) | 3,50,000 |
