The Mayor

#### Abstract

Dhulikhel has about 30,000 residents, including many students, but it has no public library. Students and readers must travel to Kathmandu or depend on a few small private reading rooms. This proposal requests the support of Dhulikhel Municipality for constructing a two-storey public library building of about 3,500 square feet on the municipal land at Ward 3. The library will have a reading hall for 100 persons, a children's section, a computer and internet corner, and a stack room for 20,000 books. The work will be done in 12 months through a competitive bid, under the supervision of a technical committee of the municipality. The total cost is estimated at Rs. 1,14,45,000. We request the municipality to provide the land and 70 percent of the cost; the Reading Society will raise the rest from local donors. The library will improve literacy, support students and encourage a reading habit in the community.
