## Question

Imagine that you have undertaken the project on the construction of hydro-electricity supply centre at a remote village in your district and the work is going on. Write a second quarterly program report in memo format.

## Short answer

Second quarter: 900 m headrace canal and forebay tank completed, 210 m penstock laid, powerhouse roof done, turbine foundation ready. 60 of 140 distribution poles erected, turbine and generator on site. Monsoon damaged a road causing delay. Progress 62% against planned 65%, remaining mainly installation.

Date    : 8 July 2027
Subject : Second quarterly progress report on the
Construction of the Hydroelectricity Supply Centre at Bigu
(April-June 2027)
```
#### Introduction
The project is to build a 30 kW hydroelectricity supply centre to serve 150 households in Bigu village, Dolakha, in 12 months from January 2027. The first quarter was devoted to the survey and the intake. This memo describes the work of the second quarter.
#### Work completed
1. The 900 m headrace canal was completed (100 percent).
2. The forebay tank was completed, and the 210 m penstock pipe was laid.
3. The powerhouse roof was completed, and the turbine foundation is ready.
4. Erection of the distribution line poles has started; 60 of the 140 poles are in place.
5. The turbine and generator arrived and were stored at the site.
6. Villagers contributed 600 person-days of labour. The expenditure for the quarter was Rs. 28 lakhs, and Rs. 52 lakhs in total.
#### Problems faced
- Monsoon rain washed out a small portion of the road and delayed deliveries.
- The landslide risk near one pole location required a change of route.
#### Work planned for the next period
1. Install the turbine and generator and complete the electrical room.
2. Erect all the poles and string the lines.
3. Test the system and train two local operators.
4. Hold the inauguration in Ashwin.
#### Conclusion
The work is 62 percent complete against a plan of 65 percent. The remaining work is mostly installation, and we expect to complete the project on time.
