## Question

Base on the case study given below draw the Use case diagram.
A Math Training Institute (MTI) aids in perfecting the mental arithmetic of elementary school students. Math training institute poses each student ten random arithmetical exercises, which should be solved as fast and correct as possible. From the responses, scores are collected which can be viewed by the users of MTI. Teachers can define types of exercises by determining numerical ranges and allowed mathematical operations. They can also delete types which were defined by themselves. Students are assigned to their teacher and can request exercises for an exercise type of their teacher.
New teachers and students are able to apply as new Math Training Institute (MTI) users themselves by specifying username and password - this is done in the context of the usual user identification. The password can be changed anytime. Teachers can delete the students which are assigned to them. During the realization of a test (ten exercises) the time needed for each exercise is stopped. However, the scores are based on the cumulative time.

## Short answer

Actors: User (generalized to Student and Teacher). Use cases: Register, Login, Change Password, View Scores (include Login), Request Exercises, Take Test (includes Measure Time), Define/Delete Exercise Type, Delete Student. Student can request exercises of teacher's types; Teacher manages own types and assigned students.

## Answer

**Actors:** Student and Teacher (both are specialisations of a general actor `User`).

**Use cases**
- User: Register as New User (by username and password), Login (user identification), Change Password, View Scores (a student sees his or her own scores; a teacher sees the scores of the assigned students).
- Student: Request Exercises (choose an exercise type of his or her own teacher), Take Test (ten exercises, time measured for each).
- Teacher: Define Exercise Type (numerical range and allowed operations), Delete Exercise Type (only own types), Delete Student (only assigned students).

**Relationships**
- `Student` and `Teacher` inherit from `User` (generalization), so both can log in, change the password and view scores.
- `Change Password` and `View Scores` **include** `Login` (user identification). The same holds for the student and teacher use cases, but those arrows are left out to keep the diagram readable.
- `Take Test` **includes** `Measure Time`: the time needed for each exercise is stopped, and the score is based on the cumulative time.
- `Request Exercises` is followed by `Take Test` (ten random exercises of the chosen type).
- `Delete Exercise Type` applies only to types the teacher defined himself or herself, and `Delete Student` only to assigned students (shown as notes or conditions).

The answer's key points as multiple-choice questions, with the correct option and why.

1. How are Student and Teacher related to the general actor User?
   A. They include User
   B. They extend User
   C. They are specialisations of User, inheriting its use cases like Login
   D. They are unrelated to User
Answer: C. Student and Teacher generalise to User, so common use cases (Login, Change Password, View Scores) are inherited. (Key point: Actors and generalization)

2. Why does Take Test include Measure Time?
   A. Time is measured for each exercise and the score is based on cumulative time
   B. Time measurement is optional
   C. Teachers measure time manually
   D. Because the test has only one exercise
Answer: A. Timing always happens during a test, so it is an included (mandatory) use case. (Key point: Take Test includes Measure Time)

3. Which use cases belong to the Teacher actor?
   A. Take Test and Request Exercises
   B. Define Exercise Type, Delete Exercise Type, Delete Student, View Scores of students
   C. Register as New User only
   D. Measure Time and Login only
Answer: B. Teachers define and delete their own exercise types and delete their assigned students. (Key point: Teacher-only use cases)

4. How is user identification shown for Change Password and other operations?
   A. They extend Login
   B. Login extends them
   C. Login is removed from the diagram
   D. They include Login
Answer: D. These use cases always need the user to be identified, so they include Login. (Key point: Include of Login)
