## Question

Imagine your school friend, Miss DilKhus Kumari Vaidya, a very successful entrepreneur at early age, is offering you systems manager position with very good salary in her new business of event management. The proposed system is a complete Online-Event-Management-System (OEMs) that should handle not only event details, rather the revenue, expenditure and transaction details related to various headings of each event and also every personnel involved. Now you have to prepare executive summary and also a class diagram for making your case very strong among the stakeholders for making decision about the project finalization.

## Short answer

The executive summary proposes a web-based Online Event Management System handling event lifecycle, personnel, revenue/expenditure under headings, and reports. The class diagram centers on Event, with Client booking many Events, and Event having Services, Assignments linking Person (generalized to Client, Staff, Vendor) with role and fee, and Transactions (Revenue/Expense) per head with date, amount, mode, and optional payee.

## Answer

#### Executive summary

**Project:** Online Event Management System (OEMs) for Miss DilKhus Kumari Vaidya's event management business.

**Need:** Managing events (weddings, conferences, concerts) with registers and spreadsheets leads to missed bookings, uncontrolled cost and no clear picture of the profit on each event. Clients and staff also want to book and follow events online.

**Proposed solution:** A web-based system that manages the whole life cycle of an event: enquiry and booking, planning, service and vendor management, staff assignment, budget, billing and payment, and reports.

**Main functions**
- Create and schedule events with venue, date, services and client.
- Record each person involved (client, staff, vendor, performers) and their assignment.
- Track **revenue** (advance, instalments, final payment) and **expenditure** under headings such as venue, catering, decoration, sound, travel and salary.
- Record every transaction with date, amount, mode and head.
- Reports: profit and loss per event, outstanding payments, staff and vendor payments.

**Benefits:** fewer errors and double bookings, real-time cost control, higher client satisfaction, clear profit visibility and faster decisions.

**Scope and risk:** a first release with booking, finance and reports within a few iterations. The main risks are user acceptance and data security, handled through training, role-based access and backups.

**Recommendation:** approve development in iterations, starting with the event booking and finance modules.

                        ^    ^    ^
                   Client  Staff  Vendor
```
**Notes on the model**
- `Event` has many `Services`, many `Assignments` and many `Transactions`. Each `Transaction` carries a head (venue, catering, decoration, salary, and so on), so revenue and expenditure can be totalled per head.
- `Person` is generalised into `Client`, `Staff` and `Vendor`. `Client` is drawn again at the top only to show that a client books events. An `Assignment` links an event with a person and a role.
- A `Transaction` (revenue or expenditure) belongs to one event and one head, and may refer to a person (vendor payment or staff salary).
- Key operations: `Event.schedule()`, `Event.totalRevenue()`, `Event.totalExpense()`, `Event.profit()`, `Transaction.record()`, `Assignment.assign()`.
## Check yourself
The answer's key points as multiple-choice questions, with the correct option and why.
1. How does the OEMs class model record both revenue and expenditure for an event?
   A. Two separate unrelated systems
   B. Only the Event class stores totals, no transaction records
   C. A Transaction (amount, date, mode, head, type Revenue/Expense) belongs to an event
   D. Each Service stores its own payments
   Answer: C. Transaction carries a type of Revenue or Expenditure and belongs to one event head, so profit() can be computed from them. (Key point: Revenue and expenditure transactions)
2. Why are Staff, Vendor and Client modelled as specialisations of Person?
   A. They share common attributes such as name and phone
   B. They all have the same role in every event
   C. Because UML forbids separate classes
   D. To avoid recording any assignments
   Answer: A. Common attributes are put in the superclass Person; subclasses add what is specific. (Key point: Generalisation of Person)
3. What is the role of the Assignment class?
   A. It records payments to vendors
   B. It links an event with a person and a role (with a fee)
   C. It stores the venue address
   D. It generalises Lecture and Lab
   Answer: B. Assignment connects Event and Person with a role, giving a many-to-many link with its own data. (Key point: Assignment class)
4. Which set best matches what the executive summary contains?
   A. Only class names and attributes
   B. Source code of the modules
   C. Only the database table list
   D. Need, proposed solution, main functions, benefits, scope/risk and recommendation
   Answer: D. The summary makes the case to stakeholders: need, solution, functions, benefits, scope and risks, and a recommendation. (Key point: Executive summary content)
