## Question

Prepare an analysis of rate for P.C.C. (1:3:6) per m³.

## Short answer

Use dry volume 1.54 m3 per m3 with ratio sum 10; cement 4.435 bags, sand 0.462 m3, aggregate 0.924 m3, plus assumed labour and lump water. Add 15% overhead and 10% profit to direct cost 18,360 NPR, giving rate 22,950 NPR per m3.

## Answer

Rates and labour norms below are illustrative (DUDBC-style); use the current District Rate for a real estimate. Cement NPR 1,000/bag, sand NPR 3,500/m³, 20 mm aggregate NPR 4,500/m³, skilled NPR 1,500/day, unskilled NPR 1,100/day, overhead 15%, profit 10%.

#### Quantities per m³ of PCC (1:3:6)

- Dry volume $= 1.54$ m³; sum of ratio $= 10$
- Cement $= 1/10\times1.54 = 0.1540$ m³ $= 4.435$ bags
- Sand $= 3/10\times1.54 = 0.4620$ m³; aggregate $= 6/10\times1.54 = 0.9240$ m³
- Labour: 1.0 skilled and 6.0 unskilled days per m³ (assumed norm).

#### Analysis

| Item | Qty | Unit | Rate (NPR) | Amount (NPR) |
|---|---:|---|---:|---:|
| Cement | 4.435 | bag | 1,000.00 | 4,435.00 |
| Sand | 0.4620 | m³ | 3,500.00 | 1,617.00 |
| Coarse aggregate | 0.9240 | m³ | 4,500.00 | 4,158.00 |
| Skilled labour | 1.000 | day | 1,500.00 | 1,500.00 |
| Unskilled labour | 6.000 | day | 1,100.00 | 6,600.00 |
| Water and curing (lump) | 1 | LS | 50.00 | 50.00 |
| **Direct cost** | | | | **18,360.00** |
| Contractor's overhead @ 15% | | | | 2,754.00 |
| Contractor's profit @ 10% | | | | 1,836.00 |
| **Total (rate per m³)** | | | | **22,950.00** |

**Rate of PCC (1:3:6) = NPR 22,950.00 per m³.**

The answer's key points as multiple-choice questions, with the correct option and why.

1. How much cement is needed per m3 of PCC 1:3:6?
   A. 1/3 x 1.54 = 0.513 m3
   B. 1/10 x 1.27 = 0.127 m3
   C. 1/6 x 1.54 = 0.257 m3
   D. 1/10 x 1.54 = 0.154 m3, i.e. 4.435 bags
Answer: D. Sum of ratio is 10 and dry volume is 1.54 m3; 0.154 x 28.8 = 4.435 bags. (Key point: Cement per m3 PCC)

2. What sand and aggregate quantities go into 1 m3 of PCC 1:3:6?
   A. Sand 0.462 m3 and aggregate 0.924 m3
   B. Sand 0.924 m3 and aggregate 0.462 m3
   C. Sand 0.30 m3 and aggregate 0.60 m3
   D. Sand 0.154 m3 and aggregate 0.308 m3
   Answer: A. 3/10 x 1.54 = 0.462 and 6/10 x 1.54 = 0.924. (Key point: Sand and aggregate)

3. How is the final rate per m3 obtained from the direct cost of 18,360?
   A. Add 15% overhead only to get 21,114
   B. Add 15% overhead and 10% profit on direct cost to get 22,950
   C. Add 25% on the material cost only
   D. Subtract 25% from the direct cost
   Answer: B. 18,360 + 2,754 + 1,836 = 22,950. (Key point: Direct cost to rate)
