## Question

Having spent more than 3 years in a particular college/campus of yours, what are the recommendations you wish to propose to the college management for the future improvement that would boost up overall academic performance and image of the college?

## Short answer

Recommend regular quality teaching, full-time faculty, updated labs and library, timely exams, industry internships, soft-skills workshops, career placement cell, clean infrastructure, student feedback forums, transparent management, alumni networking, and strong digital presence to improve academic performance and college image.

## Answer

After more than three years in my campus, I would respectfully propose the following to the college management for improving academic performance and image. (Assumption: an engineering college under TU/IOE affiliation in Nepal.)

#### Academic improvement
1. **Regular and quality teaching:** Fixed class routine, full coverage of the syllabus, attendance monitoring, and feedback from students on teachers each semester.
2. **Qualified, full-time faculty:** Reduce dependence on part-time lecturers; recruit subject experts and support their further study.
3. **Teaching methods:** More practical demonstrations, projects, case studies and group work instead of only lectures.
4. **Updated labs and library:** Modern computers, software and equipment, enough lab sessions, latest books, journals and digital access (IEEE, e-library).
5. **Timely exams and results:** Regular internal assessment, quick feedback and transparent evaluation.
6. **Extra support:** Remedial classes for weak students and mentoring.

#### Skills and employability
7. **Industry linkage:** Internships with companies, industrial visits, guest lectures and joint projects with NEA, Nepal Telecom and IT companies.
8. **Soft skills and entrepreneurship:** Communication, leadership and startup workshops; incubation centre.
9. **Training and placement cell** for career counselling and job fairs.
10. **Research culture:** Support final-year projects, publications, competitions and hackathons.

#### Environment and management
11. **Infrastructure:** Clean classrooms, internet, drinking water, hygienic toilets, sports and canteen, safe campus and transport.
12. **Student participation:** Student feedback forum, a grievance cell, and transparent handling of fees and scholarships.
13. **Discipline and apolitical academic environment:** Avoid political interference in academic matters.
14. **Co-curricular activities:** Clubs, sports and cultural programmes.
15. **Alumni network** for mentoring, funding and placement.
16. **Image building:** Good results, website and social media presence, accreditation and quality assurance.

Implementation should be planned with clear responsibilities and yearly review.
