## Question

What do you mean by CMS (content management system)? Explain MVC architecture in web?

## Short answer

A CMS lets users create and publish content without coding. MVC separates an application into Model (data), View (UI), and Controller (request handling); the controller calls the model and selects a view to return HTML.

## Answer

#### Content Management System (CMS)
A **CMS** is a software system that allows users to create, edit, store, organise and publish web content through an easy interface, without writing code. It separates content from design, supports multiple users with roles (admin, editor, author), and has templates, plugins and version control. Examples: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal. It is used for blogs, news portals, college and company websites.

#### MVC architecture in web
**MVC (Model-View-Controller)** separates a web application into three parts:
- **Model:** Data and business rules; communicates with the database.
- **View:** What the user sees; HTML templates that display model data.
- **Controller:** Accepts the user's request, calls the model, selects a view and returns the response.

```text
Browser -> Controller -> Model -> Database
              |            |
              +--> View <--+
Browser <-- HTML response
```

#### Working
1. The user sends an HTTP request (for example `/books`).
2. The router passes it to a controller method.
3. The controller asks the model to fetch or save data.
4. The model returns data from the database.
5. The controller passes the data to the view.
6. The view builds the HTML page returned to the browser.

#### Benefits
- Clear separation of data, UI and logic.
- Parallel work by designers and developers.
- Easy testing, maintenance and reuse.
- Different views (web, mobile) for the same model.

Frameworks such as Laravel, Django, Spring MVC and ASP.NET MVC use this pattern.

## Check yourself

The answer's key points as multiple-choice questions, with the correct option and why.

1. Which feature of a CMS is described in the answer?
   A. It separates content from design and supports multiple users with roles
   B. It stores only images
   C. It has only one admin and no templates
   D. It requires writing code for every page
   Answer: A. A CMS separates content from design and has user roles (admin, editor, author), templates and plugins. (Key point: CMS content separation)

2. What does the View do in MVC?
   A. Validates server security
   B. Displays model data to the user as HTML templates
   C. Fetches data from the database
   D. Handles routing
   Answer: B. The View is the presentation layer that renders model data. (Key point: View role)

3. Which is the correct order in MVC request handling?
   A. Model -> router -> browser
   B. Router -> view -> model -> controller
   C. Router -> controller -> model -> controller -> view -> browser
   D. Browser -> view -> controller -> model
   Answer: C. The router passes the request to a controller, which asks the model, then passes data to a view that builds the response. (Key point: Step order)
