Preface

The factory of Dynamics Tools Manufacturing Co. Ltd. at Ring Road has experienced six strikes in the last two years, which caused the loss of about 40 working days and heavy production and sales losses. As Personnel Manager, I was asked by the Managing Director, in his letter of 10 November 2026, to investigate the causes of the strikes and to suggest ways to prevent them.

This report is based on interviews with 60 workers, discussions with supervisors and union leaders, and a review of the company's records from 2024 to 2026. It describes the causes and gives recommendations. I thank the management, the trade union representatives and all the staff who cooperated in the study. I hope that the report will help to establish good industrial relations in the company.

Recommendations

  1. Revise wages and benefits: conduct a salary survey and adjust wages to match the industry and the cost of living. Pay overtime and festival bonuses on time and according to the Labour Act.
  2. Improve working conditions: provide safety equipment, clean drinking water, a canteen and a rest room, and reduce overtime.
  3. Set up a grievance procedure: create a committee of managers and workers that meets monthly and resolves complaints within 15 days.
  4. Improve communication: hold a quarterly meeting between management and all staff, and share information about the company's performance.
  5. Recognise the union: negotiate regularly with the trade union and sign a written collective agreement.
  6. Ensure fair treatment: adopt clear rules on promotion, transfer and discipline, with no favouritism.
  7. Offer training and career growth: provide skill training and promotion on merit.
  8. Introduce productivity incentives: give a bonus linked to production and quality.
  9. Train supervisors in handling people and in labour laws.
  10. Set up an early warning system: supervisors should report signs of unrest to the Personnel Department immediately, so that problems are solved before they become strikes.
