Final project report: title page, abstract, recommendation

Short answer

A final report on a campus Wi-Fi network includes a title page, abstract, and recommendations. It was completed on time, cost Rs. 46 lakhs, and achieved 40 Mbps average speed with 98 percent coverage. Recommendations include backup internet, maintenance, training, and expansion.

You are asked to prepare a final report of a project of your engineering field. Write only the following parts: Title page, abstract and recommendation. Also, give the outline of the report.

Abstract

This report describes the design and implementation of the campus-wide Wi-Fi network at Himalaya Engineering College, completed between January and June 2027. The project was started because students and staff had poor and unreliable internet in classrooms, labs and hostels. The objective was to provide fast, secure Wi-Fi in all six buildings for at least 1,500 users. The work included a survey, design, procurement, fibre cabling, installation of 52 access points, a firewall and an authentication system, and testing. The project was completed on time and cost Rs. 46 lakhs, 4 percent below the budget. Tests showed an average speed of 40 Mbps per user and 98 percent campus coverage. The report recommends adding a backup internet line, regular maintenance and user training, and the expansion of coverage to the playground.

Recommendation

  1. Add a second internet line from another provider, for backup, so that service continues when one line fails.
  2. Appoint a network administrator and keep a maintenance contract for the equipment.
  3. Update firmware and passwords regularly, and keep logs for security.
  4. Train staff and students in safe use and in reporting problems.
  5. Extend the coverage to the playground, canteen and the hostels' open areas in the next phase.
  6. Review the bandwidth every six months and upgrade it according to the number of users.

Outline of the report

  1. Title page, letter of transmittal and acknowledgements
  2. Table of contents, list of tables and figures
  3. Abstract
  4. Introduction: background, problem, objectives, scope
  5. Methodology: survey, design, procurement and installation
  6. Findings/results: test results, cost and time
  7. Discussion and conclusions
  8. Recommendations
  9. References and appendices (network diagram, bill of quantities)
