Technical section
The lab will serve 40 users for software development, testing and training.
- Hardware. Forty workstations (Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 24-inch monitor) and two rack servers for file sharing, version control and test environments.
- Network. Gigabit LAN using Cat-6 cable and 24-port managed switches, a firewall, and a 200 Mbps fibre internet connection with a backup line. Wi-Fi access points will cover the lab.
- Power and cooling. A 10 kVA online UPS and an inverter for at least 2 hours of backup, with two air-conditioners to protect the equipment.
- Software. Licensed operating system, office tools, IDEs, database software and antivirus. Open source tools will be used wherever suitable.
- Security. Role-based user accounts, daily backups, CCTV and biometric entry.
- Implementation. (a) Site survey and design - 2 weeks; (b) purchase - 4 weeks; (c) cabling and installation - 3 weeks; (d) testing and staff training - 2 weeks. The lab will be ready in about 11 weeks.
