Five uses of networks in daily life

Short answer

Networks enable communication (email, VoIP), online education portals, digital banking and payments, entertainment streaming and social media, and e-commerce or ride-hailing apps. They also support office resource sharing and IoT.

Explain five instances of how networks are a part of your life today.

Networks are part of almost everything we do daily. Five examples:

  1. Communication: email, Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber and video calls (Zoom, Google Meet) work over the Internet, and mobile phone calls use telephone and cellular networks.
  2. Education: students attend online classes, search for study material, submit assignments and check results on websites such as the IOE and TU portals. Campus LANs and Wi-Fi connect labs and libraries.
  3. Banking and payments: ATMs, mobile banking, wallets such as eSewa and Khalti, and connectIPS all use networks to link branches and servers securely and to transfer money instantly.
  4. Entertainment and social media: YouTube, Netflix and Facebook stream video and share content through the Internet; online games use networks for multiplayer.
  5. Shopping and services: online shopping (Daraz), food and ride apps (Pathao), ticket booking, and e-government services all depend on networks.

Other examples: resource sharing of printers in an office, remote working, weather information and smart home devices (IoT).
