                        MEMORANDUM

To : Executive Director, Alternative Energy Promotion
Centre, Lalitpur
From : Er. Keshav Subedi, Chief Consultant
Date : 5 April 2027
Subject : Third monthly progress report on the Micro-hydro
Power Project at Jogimara, Dhading (March 2027)

Introduction

The 40 kW micro-hydro power project at Jogimara, Dhading, will provide electricity to 180 households and a school. It began on 1 January 2027 and is scheduled to be completed in 9 months. This is the report on the third month.

Work completed

  1. Headrace canal: 900 m of the 1,100 m canal has been completed (82 percent).
  2. Penstock: all 180 m of pipe has arrived, and 60 m has been laid.
  3. Powerhouse: the walls were completed and the roofing has started.
  4. Turbine: the manufacturer has confirmed 15 May as the dispatch date.
  5. Community: 24 villagers were trained as caretakers, and 500 person-days of free labour were contributed.
  6. Finance: Rs. 22 lakhs was spent in March, and Rs. 61 lakhs so far.

Problems faced

  • A landslide blocked 40 m of the canal and delayed the work for a week.
  • The jeep track to the site is often blocked, so cement arrives late.

Work planned for the next period

  1. Clear the landslide and complete the remaining canal.
  2. Lay the remaining penstock pipe.
  3. Complete the powerhouse roof and build the turbine foundation.
  4. Hold a tariff discussion with the user group.

Conclusion

The overall progress is 34 percent against the plan of 36 percent. The slight delay is due to the landslide; we have hired extra labour, so the schedule should be regained next month.
